I've been carrying a black Longchamp purse (microfiber with leather trim and a cross body adjustable strap) since our first trip to France in 2000. I found that when the trip was over, I just kept carrying the purse! I'm embarrassed to say, I have carried it now for 10 years and it is still going strong. Let me add that I do have other nice leather purses that I use, but I keep returning to the light weight comfort of the Longchamp. Also bought it in two tone tan for summer.

It doesn't have to be a "Le Sport Sac" brand (they are pricey for what they are. Just that idea of an extremely lightweight bag, nylon or rip-stop type fabric, zippered close does the trick.

My friend sewed herself a great fabric travel bag. It's shaped like a traditional "messenger bag" but smaller and lightweight because of just being 2-layers of fabric.

I must make a trip to Target and see what they have. I'd love another color but hate the prices of Le Sportsac. I bought the 2 I have at Marshalls or Ross. I keep checking there but no luck. Thanks for the tip

I have several cross-body bags and have found the microfiber fabric suits me best.

Whatever style you buy, be sure to take care as to what type of strap the purse/bag has. I have found that on some of my sweaters, the straps (like the mesh kind) tend to snag across the chest, leaving unsightly little marks on the sweater.

Happy travels!

Lesportsac is made in the US. I think that's worth a few dollars...

If you're interested in a fabric bag, there are all kinds on Etsy.

Mine is Crumpler brand - they have different varieties, great colours, lots of configurations. Mine has velcro tabs and clips that make it hard to imagine a pickpocket every getting access. My husband has a backpack that's great as well.
It looks like you can buy them online but not sure what postage would be like to the US. Have a look at http://www.crumpler.com/AU/

I second the Target recommendation, I was just there this evening and they have many fashionable bags in the accessories section.
