lido, expensive food???
 

hi gang,
going to venice in september and will be staying in lido di jesolo. i have been told that venice is very expensive for eating out, is this true and will this apply to lido?

I'd imagine you should also find some inexpensive places on the Lido since there are many locals who actually live there. YOu should immediately read the book "A Thousand Days in Venice" about an American woman who meets and marries a Venetian.

They lived on the Lido and she does mention a few places.

The boyfriend of the author of A Thousand Days in Venice lived on the Lido di Venezia; it's not the same thing as the Lido di Jesolo.

The Lido di Jesolo is a beach resort (as, of course, is Lido di Venezia). I would not expect prices there to be much lower than in Venice itself. If you want to eat less expensively, go to pizzerias, of which there seem to be at least two dozen in Lido di Jesolo.

Ladylever...we only had the four cheese pizza on the lido in 2001. It was recommended to us and we really enjoyed it and did not feel that we were overspending.
We stayed at the Villa Parco on the Lido and breakfast was included.
Therefore most of our meals were in Venice itself.

mclaurie gave you a good book to read, I have read it and am thinking of reading it again. "just to put my head in Venice"

Zerlina is correct. I have no idea where lido de jesolo is vis a vis Venice. Sorry.

Sorry - Lido di jesolo isn;t Venice. It's a resort town about 30 miles up the coast from Venice.

There is a Lido that's part of Venice - about a 15 minute boat ride - with beaches and the convention center.

But Lido di Jesolo is a completely different town and you would have to trek back and forth to Venice by train or bus - or perhaps there's a boat - I don;t know. But it's about 45 minutes away.
