LHR to STANSTED AIRPORT
I've seen advice for getting to Stansted from downtown London, but I need to go from Heathrow to catch another flight. Anyone have a discount code for this? Thanks a bunch

I answered you other post. There is no train from LHR to Stansted.
Just take the coach - how much time do you have between flights? |
The only direct public transport is via National Express coach.
If you've got less than 5 hours between expected landing & take off times then rebook one of the flight as the odds are you won't make the onward flight If you've got lots of time then consider going into & out of London to have some time there. If you go to the Stansted & Heathrow Airport websites then under "to & from our airport" there are whole sections on getting between airports & getting into & out of London |
Thanks Janis and Alan! I am so excited about the trip that I'm getting absent minded. I didn't realize until today that the only way is by bus. We have several hours, so I think it will be fine. Thanks and I promise not to ask this question again! Pat

Hi Kp,
>We have several hours, ... As AR said, you will need about 5. ((I)) |
Hi Ira, We arrive at LHR at 8:30 a.m. and leave Stansted at around 1:00ish. Is this o.k.?

I assume you're flying on a budget airline out of Stansted. Those airlines have strict check-in deadlines. If you don't have your boarding pass in hand when the deadline arrives, you won't be allowed to board, your ticket will be worthless, and you'll have to buy a new one at what will likely be a very high price.
If you arrive at Heathrow on time and get through immigration expeditiously, you should be able to catch the 09:40 bus which arrives at Stansted at 11:05. However, if your plane is late or there is a long line at immigration, you'll miss that bus. The next one, which departs at 10:40, arrives at Stansted at 12:20. That's too late for you to make your connection. |
koreaprincess: As TimS says - if everything goes well at LHR you will be fine. But if not, you have no chance. To repeat what he said - just getting to Stansted isn't good enough, getting to the check in line isn't good enough. You must check in and have your boarding pass in hand by the cut off.
Good luck . . . . |
My advice - get a seat near the front of the plane and be prepared to RUN to get to the immigration queues.
If you can also have only hand luggage that will save a lot of time. if you miss the 09:40 then you are going to have to throw money at the problem by taking the Heathrow Express to Paddington, Circle Line Tube to Liverpool Street then the Stansted Express to Stansted which will cost around £34 but the latest you can leave Heathrow is 10:15 in order to allow some time to stand in a queue |
