LGW to LHR
 

Has anyone used a private car service/limo/shuttle to go from LGW to LHR? Husband and I fly into LGW and will overnight at a hotel near LHR prior to a flight back to LAX from LHR. We can do the National Express Bus from LGW to LHR and then get the Hoppa Bus to a hotel but am wondering about another option. Pros and cons would be greatly appreciated.

I would think the www.justairports.com that I and many others on fodors recommend would do the trip. Check their website which has posted prices for many trips or email them. We used them at least a dozen time in our year in London and always had excellent on time comfortable service.

And I meant to say the car service would pick you up at LGW and take you directly to your hotel, rather than NEX bus and Hoppa bus combination. Depends on your budget, fitness and preferences whether the extra cost of a car service is worth it to you. We never used it between the two airports but did use it to and from both LGW and LHR from our Chelsea apartment (SW London) and found either way service was great.

I will investigate justairports.com. We think the extra expense of the car service will outweigh the irritation of using two or three less expensive transportation modes.

If you don't want to do the Hoppa (I agree it's not ideal), you can always take the National Express coach to LHR, then taxi to your LHR hotel.

My husband and I did that connection on our way home from Croatia last year. Took the National Express Bus and the Hoppa to our hotel. It took forever, and nothing is easy to find (maybe it's better with the new terminal open). We landed in LGW in the early afternoon, but didn't sit down for dinner until after 9PM. Too exhausting for the end of a vacation. Plus, it's a pretty expensive way to go. Look into a limo/taxi and figure out the cost difference. It could be well worth it.
