LF hub, transpo & itinerary: 10day France, Lux, Belgium, Germany

2 couples mid-40s - solid walkers looking to check out Vimy, Ypers (WWI Canadian memorials) and Choco, modules, frites, and beer in late May 2017. Happy to land one country and exit via another. Want to stay at Airbnb and hostels so please recommend away. Thanks.

I'd recommend the moules to be taken up near the sea NW (actually I prefer Barfleur ones but) rather than in central or southern Belgium.

Beer, all over, there are more than 300 breweries in Belgium many of whom make good stuff. The Ardennes SE is full of them.

Ardennes for walking unless you like to do a lot of canal walks.

I hope we can look back someday on this era of acronyms as a sort of '70s bell-bottom time for language, with comic affection but glad they're long gone (I should live so long).

I hate acronyms. And in a foreign language .... People think we all understand them. Well not always.

<<What's LF?>>

You mean Leffe? It's a Belgian beer. Really good. We like Leffe Ruby on a hot day.

Long flight doesn't make sense in context.

Reading the post at first I thought maybe a typo of LC for Low Countries (F being just next to the C) since that at least related to the rest of the OP

But who the heck knows?

Typing on a phone perhaps???

It's a good thing when you can work your way to a possible itinerary and ask for suggestions from there. We work for free.

NNFSS????

I got the rest WiP but not this one.

the poor OP - s/he must think we're all mad.

BooOttawa - the point being made by some here is that we need you to help us. the information you give us, the better we can hep you. you obviously have a bit of an idea about your itinerary, why not post that and let us play with it.

And can I also suggest that you look at ordinary B&Bs [which have existed long before AirBnB] and small hotels? In France, Gites de France have B&Bs [chambres d'hôtes} as well as self-catering accommodation:

I have often made recommendations on this site for travels to the Vimy war memorial, an essential Canadian experience. You are based in Ottawa, close to and maybe an employee of the government that maintains the monument. Once the snarkfest you have stirred up, as a first-timer, dies down, I will be happy to supply my experience and website connections. Or are you serious about being "The Jester"? Ha, ha.

yes, i sense quite a bit of frustration as well. I am a first timer at forums. Except for my initial "wish list", I do not have a game plan. Thought I would grow my knowledge by learning from another experienced traveller who has done a similar trip to 3 or 4 of these countries within the same timeframe.

If you have not, no need to reply to this tread. more specific questions will come later, I am sure as the journey enrolls. Thanks.

Now that we have an idea what you meant people will certainly be able to help you

I'd check out the Stavelot area of se belgium. Lots (TONS) of WWII sites, Spa race track, near the german border, and lots of hiking and outdoors activities
