Let’s Go To France

I am getting excited now. I would not let myself for months. Where in Paris did you go for the test to fly home? I am sure we will find a lab but am also sure more people will be needing it in a month as travel opens up. You have me drooling over those pictures. Thank you!!

@gooster- While I love sweets it is not something I eat often. There are so many places with beautiful window displays that I can’t help myself.
@Macross- I am glad you are getting excited for your trip. For testing we did the Emed kits through Abbott. I bought 6 kits For $120? and brought 4 with us. All you do is log into the Emed site when you are ready and then they walk you through the test and send the results to you via email. You can then upload the results into your airline. I am glad I brought an extra kit because the first test I took was faulty (the control line never changed colors). It took us about an hour for everything to be done and to upload into the airline.

For 1,90€ you can ride a bus that will take you to some amazing places. I really wanted to be able to see things along the drive so no underground was used.
It was also a great way to save my tired feet at certain points in the day. What struck me most after all of the big sites and the gold statues of unicorns at the Alexander III bridge was the traffic mixed with scooters, bikes and even unicycles.
I realized over the past four days that I could never take a bicycle and ride through the traffic in Paris.
Within all of the hustle of people and cars lie pockets of tranquility. A morning walk through the Luxembourg garden. The flower beds are amazing. The care taken to maintain them is immense. What I really liked about this garden is all of the chairs in different areas. Its like a house with different rooms for relaxing or playing. You can sit in these chairs and visit with a friend, hold hands with your lover or just relax and breathe.
A bus to see the Eiffel tower one last time from the Trocodaro garden. Loved the view but not all of the hustlers. We did have lunch at a cafe and people watched while we had a cold drink. I had the homemade French onion soup and my dh had a goat cheese and tomato toast with salad.
A return bus took us to the Jardin des Plantes. I really love to garden and it is one of my happy places. This garden was so very beautiful. Riots of colors everywhere. I am not sure if you have ever been but if you haven’t GO. It took a couple of hours to explore, read plant tags and take it all in. The fact that there is a zoo right next to it makes it a great place to take the little ones for a day.
I did get a chance to sit on the bench and enjoy it. It was so very peaceful and can not believe that right outside the gates the roads are crazy and people are going in all directions.
A bus back to the hotel and then we walked to a small Italian place for dinner. Casa de Mario opened at 6 and made for a delicious early dinner. A cold veggie salad, pizza and then a panna cotta shared for dessert.
Our last day:
It rained over night and so we had a late morning start. We opted for coffee, chocolate chaud and croissants for breakfast. It really is a nice way to start your morning to sit in a cozy chair and sip your chocolate chaud.
A morning walk took us to Jardin du Potager and the Catherine - Labouré Jardin. While these are smaller it was filled with children laughing and babies exploring the lawn. This park feels like a local park for parents and children to enjoy. I did love the apartments that overlook the park. What a beautiful view to enjoy.
One last walk to the Jardin de Luxembourg to sit and just enjoy. Unfortunately the black clouds had other ideas. Just as we sat strong gusts of wind came and it started pouring rain. Everyone made a mad dash to the trees and overhangs to escape. It was not supposed to rain according to the phone. We did pop into a cafe there and had a coffee.
A stop at La Grande Epicerie for some goodies for our dog helpers as well as a few more items. Now to pack.

tomboy- Thanks for the park information. I will add it to my travel list.
AGM- I loved the espaliered apple trees and would love to do something like that in my own yard. I am sure we missed a lot but it will be a good reason to re visit.
Thanks everyone for the kind comments. This trip was very much about just enjoying being outside and getting to travel again. We both loved France and will be going back for more exploring.

Awake at 3am to shower and pack the last few items in my small backpack.
The dogs rolls over with a question on their face. Knowing that we had the suitcases out yesterday they sense that we are leaving. They rise to get their heads rubbed and their bellies fed.
Opening our front door the warmth of the early morning hits us. There is a heat wave warning for the next three days. Honestly I will not miss the heat and am looking forward to some cooler weather.
We get checked in and then go up to security. TSA pre check is something that I am happy we have and are through security in about 5 minutes. I was surprised by the number of people going to Chicago, Atlanta and D.C so early in the morning. I had gotten our tickets with points months ago and had us fly from Sacramento instead of LA or SFO. This meant I couldn’t find a direct flight to Paris and so we have a short layover at IAH.
Regarding masking. I had bought some Kn95 from Amazon. I had gone to Costco but they were sold out. I also got some really cool crocheted bands for the back of the mask that has a button on each side. Homemade by someone on Etsy and they are a great ear saver.
I was also impressed that most everyone in the terminal was masked and that there was no one on the plane making a stink.
We are flying United and are in Economy Plus. I love the extra legroom and the drinks were nice to have.
While in line for our flight from D.C. to Paris I quickly check my emails for hundredth time. The Pass Sanitare was received! I downloaded our passes before the plane takes off.
I really can’t believe that we are on our way to France.

This has been such an enjoyable read! I am heading to France in June with lots of family. We will primarily be in Paris and the Provence area. Paris apartment is booked but I appreciated the two towns you mentioned that are your favorites in Provence. Still researching that area as it will be new for all of us.
Thank you for adding to my excitement.
