Less than a week to go
Over the past year I have logged seemingly hundereds of hours on this site researching Italy travel. In less than a week I leave, and while I hate to wish my life away, I am more than anxious. I fly from Cabo San Lucas Mexico to Mexico City, depart MC on Lufthansa to Franfort, change planes and arrive in Rome. I will meet my 2 of my adult children in Rome. We will stay in a apartment in Trastevere for 5 nights, train to Venice for 2 nights (Locanda Barbarigo), train to Florence for 3 nights (Hotel Dali), pick up car and head to San Gimignano for 3 nights (Hotel La Cisterna) and hopefully several hilltown for day trips, then back to Rome the night before we leave.
Information I got from this website includes: buy train tickets in Italy - it is less expensive; pack light - but take dark clothes; make reservations for the Uffizi and Academia; take good walking shoes (plus one pair of pointy high heels for night); make copies of passport credit cards, etc.; use a money belt. I have also copied numerous restaraunt recommendations.
I have decided that regardless of how hard the beds are, how small the rooms are, how noisey the vespa's are or how many stairs I have to climb, this trip will be wonderful.
Do I have everything covered? If you have suggestions - I'd be happy to receive them.
