Less than 4 weeks to go!

I have planned our trip based on all of the wonderful info on this board. I was wondering if and how all of you confirm your accomodations. We will be staying in 8 different locations over 21 days. I hate to assume they are all still OK because I have read of others with confirmation #'s and no room.

Also, does any one register their trip abroad with the US Embassy or consulate?

Thanks, Laurie

I put all my reservations into "tripit" which my family can access. I connect with them by email daily and I let them know if I may not be writing for some reason (lack of WiFi, etc) for a day or two. I emailed and reconfirmed all my reservations about 3 weeks before I left.

It wouldn't hurt to email the hotels and double-check, especially if you've requested anything in particular (twin beds instead of one double, for example). I usually do this unless I've booked the hotel very recently.

I've never registered a trip with the embassy, and if you're only going to Italy I wouldn't think it necessary. I guess it wouldn't hurt, though! Have a great time.

lol, i don't think that your embassy is going to be too interested your trip to Italy - there must be 100s id not 1000s of americans arriving there every day. Iraq possibly, but not Italy.

as for confirming hotels, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. if it's been quite a while since I booked and especially if I booked through a site like hotels.com, I'll e-mail the hotel direct.

Hi L,

The cost of reconfirming your reservations is the time it takes to write emails.

The cost of not knowing that you don;t have a reservation can be a very messed up day.

Enjoy your visit.

Thanks everyone. I think I will email the hotels just to be sure. Annhig, glad I made you laugh. My sister is very concerned about Italy knowing we are there. I'm sure you are correct 1000's arrive per day. I'm not worried :)

My sister is very concerned about Italy knowing we are there.>>

well, let your sister contact them then, and see what response she gets!

I'd love to hear the result.
