Uh oh. Is tarting up required? New thread: how do I tart myself up to meet imaginary friends in Paris?>>

imaginary? virtual perhaps! what do virtual friends become when you meet them in the flesh?

our vocabulary is not keeping pace with our technology!

BTW - in cornwall, tarting oneself up may only require finding a clean pair of wellies - don't expect Chanel or Dior!

Toucan, I look forward to hearing about your tour w/Michael Osman since we may try to hire him for a Matisse tour during our New Year's trip.

Bon Voyage to all! I look forward to hearing about the gtg w/some of my favourite Fodorites~

"what do virtual friends become when you meet them in the flesh?"

Tarted up.

Judy Mar 8th, 2012 01:59 PM

I can't wait to read about your trips....and the GTG. I can feel the excitement that you are all experiencing being a few days away from Paris! I'm 54 days away!

Tarted up.>>

bonne idee!

Miki and I will be tarted up when we meet some of you.
Say Hi to Michel Osman for me. Beatchick and I say we love you.

Judy Mar 8th, 2012 02:22 PM

Tarts rule....tell Michael I said hi as well.

PS - me and Mr. Annhig just got back after a great trip to Paris, the undoubted climax of which was the GTG last night. TR to follow, but briefly, the two of us plus Mr. & Mrs Patty, Mr. & Mrs. AGM cape cod, Nikki and toucan2 all met up at Neva cuisine near the gare st, lazarre.

it was lovely to meet up with everyone and put names to faces.

great food, lovely wine [thanks to our resident sommelier!], and terrific company.

thanks, everyone, and enjoy the rest of your trips!

Was anyone photographing the tarts?

annhig Mar 13th, 2012 12:31 PM

certainly some of the dishes were recorded for posterity. no tarts though there were some prawns and some chocolate bombs!

Judy Mar 13th, 2012 01:27 PM

annhig, I've seen the food photos on FB....was hoping to see tarted up Fodorites. I need to see some examples so I can appropriately tart up when I'm there in May

Judy, it was made very clear to me at the GTG that the phrase "tarting up" is understood differently in the US to the UK! and no pictures of any tarts, I'm afraid. toucan2 is just like her photo on FB if that helps!

Nikki Mar 16th, 2012 12:16 AM

Now I wish I had taken pictures of the tarts. As opposed to just the foie gras, the sweetbreads and the melting chocolate sphere.

annhig Mar 16th, 2012 04:14 AM

Nikki - you had your priorities!

Judy Mar 16th, 2012 04:38 AM

I agree that food photos are a priority. I may decide to visit the restaurant based on food photos....not so much based on a photo of tarted up international beauties. That might just intimidate me.

Nikki Mar 16th, 2012 08:11 AM

yes, we were pretty intimidating.

annhig Mar 16th, 2012 10:27 AM

but not very tarty.
