14. Foie gras with green pepper, sangria jelly, foie gras ice cream>

I think as a sensible kind person Whatgoodbye would boycott that menu item!

Whathello Aug 1st, 2016 01:29 PM

I had a foie gras traditionnel just one hour ago.
My daughter got one too.
Excellent.

OK not a kind nor sensible person!

Just joking -this topic was debated out just last week - I give up and say Bon Appetit!

Traveller, I doff my napkin to you. That's quite a meal. Smallish portions, I hope? I've always wondered if I would be able to appreciate wave after wave of courses, but it sounds like you had the stamina to do that, and I imagine that the meal was paced slowly enough so that you were never too full.

How long ago was this meal?

StCirq Aug 1st, 2016 02:24 PM

Whathello is a very kind and sensible person. We have enjoyed meals with him and kerouac and fuzzbucket and others in Paris, and no one eschews the foie gras.

Traveller, I am in awe, as I don't think I could have managed all that, even in 6 hours, though every bit sounds lovely.

Whathello is a very kind and sensible person.>

On that is something on which we can both agree! We all have our foibles. To be sure I was joking - I like whatgoodbye a lot.

I’m sure I heard somebody saying Cokie, tell us about one of the good meals you had in France in June. Oh well, since you insist! >>

that was probably me, coquelicot.

Traveller - I agree that I would probably have given up round about no 17.

Schloss Berg seems to be reachable from Stuttgart.
It is close or on a river. Is the view also spectacular ?
I will keep this one in mind.

traveller1959 Aug 2nd, 2016 11:11 AM

Schloss Berg is on the Mosel, close to Luxembourg.

Yes, we had 24 courses, but of course, the amount of calories was the same as of 1 Big Mac.

The courses were tiny in size, but large in aroma. Several courses were molecur.

Take no. 7 "molecular sphere of olive". It was a sphere indeed - imagine a jelly bubble filled with the aroma of olive.

Or no. 8 "Pea soup with mint air". The pea soup was served in a shot glass and mint air was, in fact, air, mint-scented (a very light foam).

Did I mention that we had wine pairings? (Not 24 glasses, sometimes one wine accompanied three courses.)

traveller1959 Aug 2nd, 2016 11:16 AM

molecur should be molecular

I still have the taste in my mouth. Or is it my brain? Or my soul?
