Can someone tell me where, in relation to where I'll clear customs / baggage claim (arriving from U.S.), is the ticket counter & station for the train to Termini?

It's been a few years since I've been to Rome & I can't visualize it in my mind. I searched & read a few threads. Someone mentioned that they thought it was on the lower level of Terminal C but they didn't seem too sure.

Anyone know? Thanks!

I'm sure someone will jump on this thread and post a detailed description, but really, it's well-marked and you won't have any problem finding it.

Isn't it obvious that the train station must be at ground level? So no matter where it is in relation to the baggage claim area, just get to ground level. Or am I oversimplifying this?

At Fiumicino Airport, the train station is NOT on the ground level, since the tracks are elevated! At Malpensa Airport, the station is indeed on the ground level.

Gac is right, the station is not on the ground level at Fiumicino, but on the upper (elevated) level.
As soon as you clear customs, at terminal C go LEFT (but dont go out of the terminal!!!) and take the automatic stairs DOWN (the sliding ones, I dont know how they are called in english, sorry). Then walk a little bit straight ahead and then take other automatic stairs UP (it is weird I know). Turn RIGHT following the (to trains) signs and then LEFT and you'll find yourself in the Station. You can purchase the ticket either at the train counter or at the tobacconist, same price. Remember to punch the ticket in the yellow machines at the beginning of the platform. Trains every 20 minutes or so, only first class, and the price is about 10 euros per person. This Leonardo Express train connects Fiumicino to Termini ONLY, so no way to make mistakes.

I am SOOOO glad William asked this question, because I would have been very confused when we got there, never imagining that the tracks are elevated at the airport. I would have wasted all the time we are saving by not checking luggage! Thank you!!!

ndf - After you asked if the tracks shouldn't be @ ground level, I felt kinda silly thinking that that makes perfect sense. I should've thought that tracks can be elevated given that the very subway that I'll ride to my departure airport passes through the airport on elevated tracks!

The reason why I know so well the way from terminal C to Fiumicino train station is because I have been traveling to and from Rome a few times lately (last time it was at the end of november 2003, and the time before that was during a VERY hot day in June 2003, during one of the hottest summers Italy has ever seen), no one was waiting for me at the airport but apart from that I usually find the Leonardo Express a very good way to go from Fiumicino to Termini.
