Leonard Whiting fans?
 

It's late and I've had a glass of wine (a rather large one). I saw someone's posting about Verona, and my mind wandered (and it didn't have to wander very far) to the 1969 film "Romeo and Juliet." <BR> <BR>Here's my point: In your travels, have you ever run into someone who used to be famous, but is now in somewhat reduced circumstances? Since I haven't seen or heard anything about Leonard Whiting in years, I'm assuming he's not living in the same neighborhood as Madonna and Guy. I could be wrong. <BR> <BR>I once read a quote by Howard Stern, paraphrasing: "There is nothing worse than being famous and yet being poor." <BR> <BR>I know this question/subject sounds somewhat catty. I sincerely don't mean it to be that way. Just curious...

I remember Leonard Whiting from my Tiger Beat and 16 magazines when I was like 10. (I'm 42 now.) I had such a huge crush on him.

Alas, alas. I saw a TV special on former teen heart throbs about a year ago, and it included Leondard Whiting. Let's just say the years have not been kind.

Oh, Margo, your post sent me twirling back to early adolescent days. I well remember seeing Franco Zeffirelli's production of "Romeo and Juliet" (I still think it's the best filmed version of the story). Yes, Leonard Whiting --- that was the first time I saw a nude male derriere. That fabulous butt shot when he arises from his tryst with Juliet and opens the curtains --- sigh. <BR> <BR>I'm tempted to check out website posted by Elaine, but then again, don't want to ruin my memories & the fantasy. <BR>

I suppose he is not an unattractive man, if you didn't know what he looked like at 17. I choose to block that photo from my mind and live in the past. <BR> <BR>Thanks to those who replied.
