Exactly, Marilyn. Plus, you can use it to check on the kitties and the housesitter, Peace of mind.

I travel for work almost weekly with my laptop. However, when I go on a trip for pleasure, the laptop stAYS at home. Security is not the issue. that is second nature. Having fun and not working is the pleaure travel issue. I give of my time, and vacation belongs to me. No one has bought that time!

Thank you for supporting Marilyn and my statements, charsuzan. As we said if you WORK on a computer, vacation means getting away from a computer. But if you only use a computer for relaxation, fun, and entertainment, then you're much more likely to want that "fun" tool with you on holiday.

One may or may not use a computer in one's work, and one may or may not like one's job.

I use a computer constantly in my profession and I love what I do.

I never travel without a computer.

Hi juju! Nice to see you on here again!

Gotta check up on those housesitters, you know. Never know what the heck they're up to, but the kitties will give a full report when we return. If only those cats could learn how to type.

Agree that "leisure travel with a laptop" is an oxymoron. To me. But, when I leave home for vacation, though I leave the PC and laptop home, and never visit internet cafes, I cannot imagine traveling without my PDA. That I spend so much time with it annoys the heck out of my husband, now and again, but I'm the one who's made all the plans and gets us where we're going, all day, every day.

And, also agree, with Laptopper who says "it's not anyone else's problem". Surely he understands that you're not willing to accomodate his laptop endeavors, and/or will be annoyed/frustrated with same, along with the others (if that is true), all along the way. But, plans to bring it just the same.

It is positively not prudent to include a laptop in the checked baggage. But, doubt Laptopper plans to do that. He'll need it on the plane.

Going through security with a laptop does require an extra minute. So what? Lots of others will be seriously slowing up the line for other reasons.

Traveling with "loving family" requires "compromise" all along the way from each and every one for every reason imaginable.

While you may prefer historical sights, architecture, ruins, shopping, museums, hiking, Laptopper may not.

There must be some good reason you're ALL planning this "great trip to Italy".

djk, what do you use? Any applications you want to add to the PDA thread?
