When all was said and done, I ended up at the Radisson Blu Hotel. It cost a little more but it was worth it.
For me, the location was perfect--directly accross the street from everything and a two minute cab ride from the station (you can walk it easily without bags). I am usually not a fan of ultra modern hotels but I can see why they have their advantages, and I certainly had no complaints about this one. The Radisson Blu Hotel is definitely not a luxury property; however, it certainly had everything I need for a more than comfortable stay. I paid €199- including breakfast for a suite. I had expected a large open plan room but had three separate rooms. You entered the room to a narrow hallway that contained the closet and entrance to the bathroom. The bedroom was to the right. There was a king bed, a comfortable chair, flat screen tv, excellent lighting, very comfortable--not at all cramped. Turn left, and then right, into the living room area with a sofa, coffee table and another flat screen tv. Turn left and left again and there was a separate office/den area--a small room containing a large desk (with complimentary high speed interet access), a complimentary mini bar which was re-stocked daily, coffee making supplies and shelves. Lots of windows so it was bright. The bathroom was also a good size with a tub and a separate walk in shower. I must say, the only thing I found odd was that there was a glass wall dividing that bathroom and the bedroom. There was a sheer drap that you could close, but call me old fashioned... Breakfast was included. It was plentiful and there was enough variety so that I could have something slightly different each day. From Leipzig I went to Berlin where I was upgraded to a suite at The Regent. That was a luxury experience!!!! |
