Legoland
 
Is there a "Legoland" outside of London which can be seen as a one day trip? Where is it? How do I get more information on it? Is it worthwhile on a one week visit to London. I'll be traveling with 3 kids, the youngest is 8 years old and I thought this might be a welcome site for them.

The only legoland in uk is just outside london in Windsor <BR>it is a excellent place for kids between 5-14 years in my view,and theres alot to entertain the adults as well <BR>Hope this helps

The theme park has a web site at http:www.legoland.co.uk. <BR> <BR>You can reach it in an hour from Waterloo or Paddington station, and if you take your train after 0930 can use a family railcard, which may cut your cost. <BR> <BR>In summer Windsor offers also a forty minute boat trip from Windsor Bridge. <BR> <BR>In the newsagency in the airport arrival concourse, at Waterloo, and elsewhere you canbuy a monthly listings magazine called "Kids Out in London". <BR> <BR>Please write if I can help further. Haven't been to the one in Windsor but took three kids to the one in Denmark last summer. There really were only perhaps two rides that intrigued them (the dragon roller coaster and the pirate ride). The rest were really geared towards younger children (in the 3-8 range). They were, however, fascinated by all the miniature towns built of Legos, with working windmills, bridges, trains, ferries, etc. There was also a very ornate dollhouse (Queen Titania's Palace-not built of Lego's) in the museum, and an interesting display on how they build it all and keep it all running that the boys loved. They also had a Lego Mindstorms exhibit where you can biuld and computer-program your own robot. My 14-year-old loved that. Again, I don't know if the one in Windsor has all the same sorts of things or not. Does anyone else?

By the way, Windsor Castle is cool to see too, and if you have daughters, Queen Mary's Dollhouse is there. If your kids watched Prince Edward's wedding on TV, they would get a kick out of seeing where he got married.

Legoland is seriously boring try Chessington or Thorpe Park both of which are great and just outside London [or cross the chanel on Eurostar for a day trip to Disneyland Paris]

A new Legoland has just opened in southern California where I live. The report from my nieces and newphews and other friends' children is: it's OK for really little kids, but boring for older than 8.
