Left bank hotels 6th didtrict

We were planning to stay near the Louvre but have been told the Left Bank is better. Any thoughts? Would like to find a hotel in the 125- $200 range.

The left bank is right across a very short pedestrian bridge from the Louvre, so that's not a problem.
There are hundreds of posts here about hotels in the 6th or 5th (Left Bank).

Try Hotel Verneuil (http://www.hotelverneuil.com/hotel.html) It is actually in the 7th, but right on the border of the 6th arr., and only a few blocks from the Musee d'Orsay as well. Fantastic location and wonderful staff. Standard rooms are very nicely appointed, with good bathrooms, but the room is quite small. Standard room is within your budget, but splurge on the deluxe room if you can.

If you will do a search for the St. Germain area you will find lots of recs. Most recent recommendations in that range were for Le Regent -- I have stopped in to check it out (very nice) and the staff was most kind. Just off the market street rue Buci and blvd St. Germain; it is near the action but not noisy.

If you're interested in staying near the Louvre, one advantage to being on the Right Bank is that room sizes tend to be larger.

Have at look at the Hôtel Mansart, which is right off the Place Vendôme, just around the corner from the Ritz but in a much moderate price range.
