Lefkada vs Kefalonia - Which one?
 

Hi all!

Thinking of getting to the Ionian Islands this summer. It has been years since I visited the western side of Greece. I really like the exotic color of those beaches.
I've got 7 days for my itinerary. How many days should I spend on each island? Will it be enough to see the best beaches and sightseeing? Can these two islands be combined easily?
I've also heard about Paxoi, Voutoumi Beach looks stunning. Would a sailing trip be cool around the area?

Any tips you can share will be very much appreciated. Thank you!

In high season, there are daily boats between Kefalonia and Lefkas (Nydri).
There are no direct boats between Lefkada and Paxi. You will have to go by bus from Lefkas toPreveza and from there to Igoumenitsa where the Paxi bound ferries start.
There are also daily excursion boats from Parga to Antipaxi - Paxi, but they leave from Parga before the first bus from Preveza (Lefkas) arrives.

Paxoi looks stunning... Are you sure there isn't a way to get there directly from Lefkada? Is there a way to get to Paxoi from Kefalonia or Corfu maybe? If there is, I might consider changing my itinerary. A friend tried a day trip from Lefkada to Kefalonia-Ithaca-Scorpios and at the end of the day he was wrecked... Me and my friends are thinking of renting a boat to tour the Ionian Islands, to try a bit of island hopping. Can't decide which islands to combine in 7-8 days time. I've heard that day trips are tiresome, so we might book a sailing boat so as to get around the islands and sleep there as well.

I was looking for a more personal experience, I've read articles on several sites like the one you shared. Could you please tell me some main differences between those islands? I know they are close, some beaches look alike, the island life I've read is pretty different. I am looking for relaxed vacation. No fancy things, just gazing the views, trying some nice recipes and discovering hidden gems around the area.

Should I skip Lefkada? Are the beaches in Zakynthos, Corfu and Kefalonia better? Please advise!
