Lecce

Help, ideas or suggestions? We had a B&B booked in Lecce and found out yesterday that our reservations were being canceled because the B&B was overbooked. Somewhat frustrating considering we booked in June. We are planning to be in Lecce September 16-18th. Does anyone have a favorite place they like to stay? Also, we plan on visiting some of the areas around Lecce (mostly beaches) and are not opposed to staying in another town and driving to Lecce. We will have a car. Any suggestions?

Ouch! I'm sorry, I can't (won't) recommend the place I had stayed ... but have you checked booking.com?

start with booking, but also try google maps and, once hovering over the city, type in B&B into the search and all the dots will appear.

Lecce old town (centro storico) is a bit special so I'd still try and stay there. If not try Martina Franca for example.

When you do get a place in Lecce ask them where to park as parking in the old town is a pain.

Or look out a Massaria nearbye with a restaurant on site, having a car make them easy to use and for a country visit they can be very nice. (use google maps trick to spot them all)

We stayed just outside the old town center (five minute walk) of Lecce and were happy with that. The hotel had no charm but it was super easy to find driving in and had plenty of parking and the walk to the old town was very quick. Hotel Tziano.

We booked a small apartment through airbnb. It was very nice, located in city center, and the owner took us on a walking tour of the old town, introduced us to restaurant owners, and more. Unfortunately, I see the apartment is booked for your dates. But it was something like $65 a night. And, a quick look at the airbnb website shows a fair number of places. We loved Lecce as a base for the southern areas of Puglia. You can see our trip report: https://www.fodors.com/community/eur...uglia-1149921/

I booked our original B&B through Booking.com. It's been great so far. I will probably end up using it again but thought maybe someone knew of a hidden gem. :-)
Thanks for taking the time reply!
