Leaving tomorrow need hotel in Zurich after 12 hr. flight.

Need a hotel in downtown Zurich prefer the old section. Planned on Hotel Krimli but it is full. Help!! There are 3 adults and would like to stay in the same room. We would also like to buy a few things before our flight out the next morning. So location is important.
Any ideas.... Hurry. Thanks
Diane

Diane: Try the "Walhalla Hotel". I guess *** next to main station. www.walhalla-hotel.ch. Very central. Supposed to be ok. Close to Bahnhofstrasse where you can do your shopping. Otherwise go to "hotel-du-theatre.ch" or "hotelcity.ch". Find more at "hotelregister.ch" by clicking "Zurich". ok? Good luck. BTW: There was snow here and they announce some more these forthcoming days....

You might try the Marriott..It is located on the river and is a short walk to 'old town'...I have stayed there a few times and have been well pleased ..and as I recall the rates were reasonable

Good evening, Diana
The HOTEL CENTRAL is a four star hotel
with 98 rooms, is located just out
the Bahnhof to the right, across the
bridge. aat Central 1. The old towne
district starts across the street running about 6 blocks south to the
lake. Have not stayed there however.
Have always used the KINDLI.

Try the Hotel Adler, 10 Rosengasse in Old Town. About a 10 minute walk from the Hauptbanhoff. 190 CHF for a double with breakfast. Very small, incredibly clean rooms. A bit noisy below the 3rd floor until the clubs close, but nothing this New Yorker can't deal with.

oops, forgot to mention that you can do plenty of shopping on the cheap in the train station - just follow the signs and the escalators down to the shops. banhofstrasse is the most expensive street in all of europe.

May: It's true Bahnhofstrasse is expensive, but only if you go to Chanel, Hermes, Vuitton, Gucci, etc. These places are expensive all over the world. But you have all Dept Stores as well on this famous street where you can make bargain and find good stuff. Go to Globus or Jelmoli. For clothes to Modissa or Feldpausch. All very close to the main station.
PS: There's even a MacDo and all kind of sandwich places you don't need to go to Sprüngli (Zurich's well-known café/patisserie). Diane: Do your shopping rather at the train station that at the airport. The airport, that's true, is expensive.

I have stayed at the Central many times (the one mentioned by Richard). It is a very nice hotel, right by old town and the main train station and easy walk to Bahnhoffstrasse. Very good location. Nice rooms. Nice bar. Good breakfast. I would recommend it if it fits your budget.
