Have any bills that will come due while you are gone that you should take care of?
Did you call your credit card company to let them know you will be out of the country? I always have to do this with mine or else their fraud alert system gives us trouble. How about the garbage cans? Stopped the mail? |
Turn off the over, lock the doors and don't give it another thought. If you forgot anything you can buy it there.
|
Stop the mail

Paid bills
Stopped mail Called the bank Bought a new lifevest for Venice Degas: I also bought new 6 inch keychain just for the trip |
Please tell me you're kidding about the life vest.

These are the essentials in my mind:
1) Plane ticket or printout of confirmation number and itinerary from airline 2) Passport 3) Money in many forms 4) Prescription eyeglasses, contacts, and/or medications 5) Comforts and entertainment for the plane ride Most anything else you could purchase in Italy if it came down to that. |
Degas, I'm surprised at you for forgetting two essentials:
1- Stop at Miss Piggy's Barbeque Emporium for airplane provisions. 2- Take in those front porch tire planters in case a storm brews while gone. Speaking of brews, a six-pack to go with Miss Piggy wouldn't be a bad idea. |
Miss Piggy has been replaced by the Smoke Shed-home of roasted pork butt and T-shirts that say "You show me your butt and I'll show you mine".
I knew I'd forgotten something!! |
Set VCR to tape Amazing Race while you are gone.
|
Pack the earplugs.
Take a back-up pair of glasses. I broke mine in Berlin last month and was happy I'd brought along another pair. |
Buon Viaggio! Have another espresso and gelato and remember all of us back here eating turkey!!
|
Platzman, thank for reminding me of those very important actions.
Fairhope, it?s good to see you are in the right frame of mine to win friends and influence strange foreign people on this trip. Regarding barbeque, I have Sonny?s Smokehouse airmail me a batch every day when I am in Europe. Sure it?s expensive, but one should not eat too much bland food cooked without enough salt, sugar, butter, and lard. Getting puny can ruin a trip. One other suggestion, look in your front yard and make darn sure all your inoperable cars are centered securely on the concrete blocks in case a wind storm comes up. |
Ivan blew all the trash to the next county.
Speaking of such,I was in Gulf Shores Al last week and the amount of damage fron Ivan is staggering! My favorite bikini lookout spot, the Pink Pony Pub is gutted. Is nothing sacred? |
A sweater or turtleneck to keep you warm on the plane. |
Fairhope, my condolences. ((b))
|
Fairhope, are you from Fairhope, AL by any chance?
My poor ole daddy was a traveling bible salesman in those parts years ago. Who knows, we may be related or something. |
