Leaving Today for the Dordogne

When we booked our tickets on air mile points 330 days ago, it seemed like an eternity. We finally leave today!!

Thank you to all the Fodorites that took the time to post information and trip reports....special thanks for Gers weekend in Dordogne, Stu Dudleys kind contribution, moolyn, mr go, carlux and st cirq's many many posts which I have combed over these past months.

moolyn...I too am hoping that my hair will like France.

I leave for this region in 77 days CrazyTravel...I will be awaiting your trip report! Bon Voyage

Carlux May 15th, 2007 03:12 AM

Maybe you'll like it so much you'll decide to live here! It's been known to happen - 13 years now, and never going back.

CRAZY4TRAVEL May 15th, 2007 04:03 AM

Thank you Julie...I'll be sure to try and post my trip report to give back to the board.

Carlux...I haven't even gone yet and I'm already cruising real estate websites. I saw one not far from Le Bugue that had a main house and 4 adjoining cottages. I'm just not sure yet how to get my hands on a million euros:)

Two hours until we leave for the airport. I guess the weather hasn't been the greatest but what can you do.

Leaving for the Dordogne in 20 days! Looking forward to your report. Best wishes to you for a wonderful time!

Have a wonderful trip! The weather in the Lot and Basque areas has been wonderful the last week. We just returned Sunday. The trees are deep green, and markets fun!

The Basque area is as beautiful as the Dordogne. Fantastic. If you can go to the small market in Martel on Saturday a.m. it's delightful!

We stayed in a gite very near Espelette and it was perfect!

Have a great trip.

120 days until we leave (I better start packing!)
Have a great time CRAZY - it is such a wonderful area in such a wonderful country

CRAZY4TRAVEL May 15th, 2007 04:44 AM

Thank you all....

Images2...we plan on visiting the Martel market this coming Saturday on our way from the Lot to Domme.

ehku..won't be back for two weeks so I'm not sure I'll have my report by the time you leave but would be happy to answer any questions you might have when I return.

Bon voyage and have a wonderful time! I can't believe it's been almost a year since our trip to the Dordogne. Looking forward to your trip report and photos.

Thank you ms go...you're photos were lovely...I really enjoyed them. It's really hard to believe how the time flies.

Crazy, you'll have a wonderful time! I'm so envious.

Don't forget to look for wild orchids which are in bloom there right now.

StCirq May 15th, 2007 08:50 AM

Bonne route! Stay away from the agences immobiliers or you may find yourself with a new piece of real estate :)

mr_go May 15th, 2007 09:51 AM

To echo what my LW said, bon voyage et bon chance! You're going to love the area...I know we sure did.

Needless to say, I'll be looking forward to your trip report.

Have a wonderful trip! Enjoy the sights, the smells, the food, the wine and the people...everything!
