Leaving this Friday for Ireland. Need help in filling one extra day!

Just found out we will be getting an extra day tacked on to our week's trip. Since we are flying out of Shannon, we have reservations at Bunratty Hotel for 3/31 and 4/1. On 31st, will be taking in local sites and attending the Midiaevil Banquet Friday night. Looking for day trip to fill Saturday. Not too far awaym maybe 1 -2 hours driving.

Any suggestions? Thanks for your help

PS Sorry if this appears twice, my first message disappeared!

I don't know what your plans are for the part of the trip preceeding this extra day, but we drove to the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren from the Bunratty area. It was fine to do as a day trip.

There's lots in County Clare. A few really nice daytrips would be Cliffs of Moher/Burren, Loop Head, a drive around Lough Derg or a day in Ennis or Limerick.

Although I haven't been to Ireland, I have advice that would apply to anywhere. Take note of all the suggestions you get, and if something really appeals to you, go for it. But if nothing really grabs you, just plan nothing, and wait to see what finds you! Many of my best moments vacationing have come about from last-minute decisions on where to go and what to see. If nothing else, some pleasant low-key sightseeing is always wonderful.

Good advice above!

I plan on hitting the Burren and the cliffs of Moher myself on my vacation.

If you want a real treat, take a day trip via ferry to the Aran Islands. I will be doing the same

Thanks to all for your replies. I am keeping my fingers crossed we actually will be on a Flight Friday! This so called travel agent has really messed up our reservations. Have three different Delta confirmation numbers and none of them right!

Again, thanks to all!

If I don't have a nervous breakdown, and we actually make it to Ireland, I will write a trip report when I get back.
