Leaving luggage near Hvar ferry station
 

For some reason my previous post did not seem to make it to the right forum, so I'm re-posting below:

I was wondering whether there is a facility at Hvar where I could leave my luggage for a few hours. My plan is to go to Hvar from Split, spend a few hours there, and then go on to Korcula to spend a couple nights. So it would be helpful to leave my bags near the ferry so I don't have to drag them around with me while I explore Hvar.

If there is no left luggage facility, I've heard that a lot of people meet incoming ferries to offer rooms - would any of them be willing to let me leave my bags in their homes?! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Have you checked the Jadrolinija ferry timetables for the day you want to visit Hvar from Split then travel on to Korcula the same day? There are two ferry ports on Hvar - at Stari Grad and Hvar town. The majority of ferries from Split arrive at Stari Grad (not right in the town though) but I don't think the ferry from Stari Grad to Korcula town operates every day and, from memory, leaves in the mornings which would not give you much time to look around. There is a more regular ferry that leaves from Hvar town (on the other side of the island from Stari Grad)and calls into Vela Luka on Korcula.
You may therefore need to take your luggage with you on the bus across to Hvar town.
