Leaving Luggage in Car in Orvieto
 

Is there a faily secure parkng lot in Orvieto? We’ll be traveling from Rome to Montalcino with a lunch stop in Orvieto this September. Because there are four of us, the car will be crowded and some of our luggage will have to be in the back seat. I remember that the parking lot near the funivia is usually busy, so I would hope that having so many people around would discourage thieves. Have any of you left your luggage in a car there for a few hours?

There's a small parking lot up by the Duomo, just past the square near the tourist office, that has an attendant. We parked there several times. You might want to park there and ask the attendant to watch your car -- slip him a few Euros. ((b))

I agree. Drive into town--only from the west side of town---and park to the south of the Duomo in a small lot there with an attendant. You may have to wait or get lucky. I do not think I would leave it at the big lot near the station. Plus, by driving up the hill you are right there. Good luck !

We stopped in Orvieto for lunch, driving from Rome to Tuscany. We parked at the top, luggage for the four of us in the car, with no problems.
