Leaving for France on Thursday!

I leave Thursday, and will spend the first day in Paris, then on to Sancerre for a week at the Coeur de France language school in Sancerre. Since I'll spend Friday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 17, in Paris, would love to know of any special things that are going on then. I've got my list: oysters, Hermes to buy my husband a tie, BHV to find something fun for the house, the Cluny to revist the unicorns, and a little Christmas shopping, but would love a few more ideas.

Thanks.

Have a great time at C de F; I spent a week there exactly two years ago. Sancerre is a lovely village. Are you staying at C de F or at the B&B which they recommend? I stayed at B&B--very nice.

I'm staying in one of their new apartments. La Martinat.

My favorite wines are from the Sancerre region. Try them out.

Does Cluny still do the noontime medieval music concerts in the Roman Bath? I think they were on Fridays and Saturdays.

La Martinat looks like a perfect place to stay.

If you can manage your time well, you are in Paris the weekend of the autumn festival in Montmartre (Oct 7-11). It's one of my favorite things to do in Paris if I am lucky enough to be there during the festival. Tons of food vendors, wine tastings, music & more. I always arrive late morning and have a wonderful lunch on the steps of Sacre Couer (oysters freshly shucked, sandwiches, olives and a bottle of wine). Oh, and the view is magnificent! For more info, the website is www.fetedesvendangesdemontmartre.com

Whatever you decide to do in Paris, enjoy every minute!

I'm sure you will have a good trip and you will enjoy your Sancerre schooling. I know several who have been and have enjoyed.

When in Paris earlier this year I spent a day with French friends in the Sancerre area where he goes every so often to buy the wines and his favorite cheese place. It was a full and fun day. I think I posted pictures here about it. We spent time in Sancerre village, too.

Enjoy...

Roberta,

Thanks so much for the tip about Montmartre. I'll head straight there Friday as soon as I've checked into the hotel!
