re: Betws...
* We haven't tried Ty Gwyn. We found a nice restaurant a few doors down the main road from the sporting goods center in midvillage. Can't remember the name but it has a walk way leading up a few staps up to the entrance.
* Photo op.. Don't miss having your picture taken under the the Betws-y- Coed sign located over the archway at the train station. It is in the middle of the main shopping center.
* Mt Snowden. We too are hikers and plan to take the train to the summit and then hike back down along the path which runs along side the rr tracks.
(weather permitting)
Haltwhistle
* You may consider walking along Hadrians wall one way and then returning via the shuttle bus that is supposed to stop at various points along the wall for hikers.
*Don't miss driving to Vindolanda a reconstructed Roman fort.
(once again,weather permitting)
York
* You got a real deal at your hotel as the rack rate is 60pounds pppn
* Don't miss driving to nearby Castle Howard.
Enjoy your trip, we may meet in York!
P.S. Don't forget your low hiking boots They take a lot of room in your luggage but they are good on the wet trails.
