Suggestion: Leave the blue jeans at home. Wear cotton or wool slacks. Yesterday I was on local busses. Most unattractve garments were the jeans! Comments!

My dear, every designer this season (virtually) e.g. Alexander McQueen, Helmut Lang, Galliano, YSL Rive Gauche... feature blue jeans as part of their collection, obviously GSteed my dear, you have no fashion sense.

Geesh when I was traipsing around Wales and North England, I wore LL Bean jeans and urban hikers everywhere! I can see me walking around Hadrian's Wall, Conwy Castle and Fountains Abbey with nice black shoes and pants.....not very practical IMO.

Well maybe the tourist need more expensive jeans or a better body. I refuse to believe the beautiful young women wearing jeans in Paris looked anything but gorgeous!

I am obviously in the minority (along with you!) but do not ear blue jeans in Europe no matter whose logo! But then I rarely wear them at home. And I agree with your assessment!

Actually, I just got back from Paris and London. Took a couple pairs of jeans and a couple pairs of black slacks. Wish I'd left the slacks at home and taken another pair of jeans. They were the most comfortable and frankly, everyone else was wearing jeans.

There are so many other unattractive things out there that people wear, I would think that jeans are one of the least offensive.

I saw teeshirts on the Tube that said F*** You and more bellybuttons and buttcracks than I'd like to think about. And, these were NOT on Americans. I'm sure we are guilty of many things, but wearing jeans seems like a very minor infraction.

The bellybutton thing (which has been going on for at least 2 years), far from being offensive, makes this old man VERY happy. In about 75% of cases.

Bring us your vile McDs, unfunny sitcoms and risible men with baseball caps, and we'll kind of put up with it. But don't you go crusading against visible bellybuttons on the nubile.

People who wear unattractive jeans most likely wear unattractive other clothes, so banning jeans from such people will hardly result in fashion plates.

I don't know wear GSteed is, but I thought he lived in Czech Rep or Poland. Not sure, but I've been there and plenty of those folks wear jeans and do not dress in designer duds. I think there are things a lot less attractive than jeans, actually -- there was this horrendous fashion a few years ago (seems to have subsided a bit) where young women walked around with their bellies hanging out in public. All sizes and shapes, even when it wasn't that hot and this was in major urban areas, not at the beach.

I missed that betty was apparently referring to the same thing, only I'm not just talking about belly buttons showing by short T-shirts, but their entire stomachs hanging out over their low-cut pants.
