Leasing a car vs. renting in ITALY

Hi there, can anyone tell me the benefits of leasing a car short term rather than renting one in Italy? I was told this was cheaper for long term (2 months) Is the cost really that much less? Can anyone recommend any reliable leasing companies? I tried Kemwel and they gave me a price of $1750 for 2 months. Thanks a bunch, Giulia

As far as I know, the buy/purchase plan is available only from Peugeot and Renault. Autoeurope will give you the lease price for a Peugeot without the foreign pick-up and drop-off charges, while Renault tells you up front what those charges will be. Count on $175 to $200+ charges depending on where you pick up the car. $1750 is not excessive for two months, if it includes everything. That comes out to $29 per day. I doubt that you will do any better.

I just was on the Kemwel site. I suspect that it works like the AutoEurope site and does not include the pick-up and drop-off charges incurred when leasing outside France. That could add $400 to the lease option.

Hi
We always lease a Peugeot - it works very well and can thoroughly recommend it. Search the web for 'Early Bird' specials. In Australia you can get 7 free days plus 50% off pick up and drop off fees. Have just arranged our next leasing for July this year and saved heaps this way. This is the 5th time we have done this. We are leasing for about 10 weeks.

Hope this helps.

The lease program is always cheaper than rental for a term that long. But, pick up and drop points are few in Italy--I think Rome and Milan. And, the car is brand with full insurance coverges.
