Learn English in Dublin
Hello everybody,
I'm a french student and I'm going to Irlande next week. I need to improve my english and I would like to integrate an English language school. Do you have any advices? Which is the best one? Looking forward to reading answers from you soon? Paul |
Hi PA,
well, you might have left it a bit late. have you tried google? |
Of course but there are lot of school and I don't know which the best one ...
Maybe, some of you went to Dublin et have an English course? |
PA - sorry, but i really think that you are in the wrong place.
the vast majority of posters here have english as their first language, and I've never seen a thread about learning english in England, let alone in Ireland. |
Hello everybody,
I was in Dublin for 2 weeks and I really had a great time. For people who are interested in studying English in Dublin, I was in the school "Learn English in Dublin" and I totally recommand it. Hoping that will help another foreign student. Best regards. PA |
I would love to go to Dublin to teach them how to speak English.
|
We'll send for you, Aduchamp1, if we ever find that we need you.
|
I'm packing my bag as I write.
|
Just sit there by the phone and wait.
|
care to post a link, PaulAntoine?
looking forward to hearing about your attempts to teach dubliners english, Adu! |
|
Sorted now, Ann. You can come to Dublin to learn proper English.
|
thanks, Padraig.
i shall ignore the implied insult regarding my existing ability to speak it. I do wonder about the meaning of the OP's last sentence, "enjoy Dublin friends" - is it a command? to whom? to do what? was punctuation part of the course? |
I imagine that they used "Ulysses" as one of their reading resources, and that PaulAntoine now models his style on that of Molly Bloom: yes I say yes he does Yes.
|
Padraig why happened to Stately, plump Buck Mulligan?
Why do you begin at the end? |
It saves time: you can now skip through 567 pages because you already know where they are leading.
Are you still sitting by the phone waiting to be summoned to our aid? |
Doesn't anyone else see someone advertising on here? Only post and he provides his website? Paul-you cannot advertise here on Fodors!
|
Did you read the thread?

Yes, but I never thought I would have to teach Joyce to the Irish. This is most disconcerting. _______ One of my professors in graduate school was one your own Denis Donoghue. A brilliant, brilliant man with great insight but stated it in prose that induced somnambulism. He knew many of the mid-twentieth century influential Irish and English writers but his ability to convey his thoughts in a crisp and entertaining manner was never transferred. I am going out for a walk now, so please leave a message and state your intention and phone number slowly and clearly, so those who are not Irish can comprehend your needs. |
We Irish can solve problems in a creative way. Getting Denis Donoghue to go to America was a relief to many students in University College, Dublin (the successor institute to that in which James Joyce studied) while simultaneously making a contribution to lessening a disturbing American tendency to hyperactivity (things like "doing" nine countries in fifteen days).
Don't worry about going for walks: the phone isn't going to ring. You didn't notice that I never asked for your number. |
