Le Meridian Hotel in Nice

Has anyone stayed at Le meridian in Nice? What did you think of it? We will have a car while we are in Nice. Could you recommend any trips (besides Cannes)

Thanks

We stayed at Le Meridien last May and found it quite pleasant, albeit rather overpriced. Our room looked out across the Promenade des Anglais to the Mediterranean, but the balcony was too small for sitting outside. The room was prettily done in Provençal blues and yellows, and the bathroom was luxurious. But it all felt like a chain hotel, which of course it is. However, the location can't be beaten.

How long will you be in Nice? There are many excellent villages perchés to visit in the vicinity, beginning with St-Paul-de-Vence; Vence is a charming small town, and there are any number of fine museums.

Thanks for your response. We will be in NIce for 4 days and are traveling with our 1 year old son so I will need to find activities that are somewhat child friendly. Any recommendations? How long does it take to get to some of the other places closes to Nice such as Cannes and Monaco. Thanks again

We didn't stay at Le Meridian but we stayed at the Mercure located in the same building directly below it. You chose the best location for Nice - IMHO. Directly across the stret from the beach and a little park that your little one will love - There is a Carousel in the park and great thrill for a one year old for 1 Euro!
Oh yeah - there is a McDonalds in the Meridiam building too - street level.
(FYI - If you rented your car from Avis you are literally one block away from it.)

Unless you have your heart set on a room with a sea view, you could check out the Beau Rivage. It was just renovated, and room sizes are quite generous. Décor is very contemporary. The location is just the other side of the Prince Albert park, in the direction of the Cours Saléya.

P.S. The Beau Rivage has a private section on the beach.
