Le Meriden in Paris??
 

We found a great deal with combined airfare and this hotel, but is this a good area for some 20-somethings to stay in...? Any other recommendations if this is not the right area? TIA!!

Is "Le Meriden" the name of the hotel?
Where is it?

There are two Meridiens in Paris, which one is it? The one near Porte Maillot is on the edge of Paris and I wouldn't recommend that location at all. The other one is in Montparnasse and I do think that would be a good location for people your age. It's a lively area, lots of places to go out and younger people around, and it has great public transportation connections.

Yes but the Meridien Etoile has better rooms than the M-Montparnasse and it's a more upscale property.

Are you sure? I've read several negative reviews of Le Meridien Etoile and old, tired rooms, but don't know the hotel personally. When I stayed at Le Meridien Montparnasse, I had a lovely, newly renovated room.

There's nothing to do in the area of Le Meridien Etoile...but the rooms are supposed to be better then the Meridien Montparnasse !
But you can take the metro from either one or the other , and taxis at night , of course , so that depends about how good your deal is.Otherwise , I wouldn't recommend these two for leisure , only for businessmen or people with small children maybe!

Le Meridien Montparnasse is like any large hotel in any major city in the world, walk in the door and you could be in New York, Sydney or Auckland. The rooms are comfortable and sterile. Paris has so many places to stay that can offer you more of an experience, have a look around, maybe a cheaper hotel with smaller rooms and no express elevator will make your holiday a bit more special.

I've stayed at Both. THe rooms i had in the Meridien Montparnasse was old with worn furniture and the bathrooms was outdated and definitely not a 4star hotel bathroom(and i reserved the room via their reservation center). The M-Etoile has a bit smaller rooms but they are nicely decorated-at least better than in Meridien MOntparnasse- with new bathrooms.
There are better hotels in Paris, why do you have to stay at the Meridien?

You didn't mention when you were going but I happened to be checking past post while I was in France and Spain. I stayed at the Le Meridien Etoile. If you know Paris and have no problem getting around on the metro its fine we paid about 90 dollars pre paid. Couldn't past the rate up for Paris but have to say the room was one of the worst I've stayed in and we are a monents points person. Won't stay there again but all we did was sleep and left early for the day.
The bathroom had just been redone. So felt better about staying in it.

I don't recommend the Le Meridien Etoile. I stayed there over 10 years ago. Hopefully the outdated rooms have been given a makeover. And I hated the location. As someone mentioned, there's nothing to do or see there unless you want to see the Palais de Congres which is a convention hall with (uninteresting) shops on the ground floor.
