Le Ciel de Paris lunch menu - anyone tried it?
 

Le Ciel de Paris is currently offering a lunch deal for 29€ and 35€. Looking for somewhere a little out of the ordinary but budget for my group of 8 students/parents and thinking about this option. Considering the price of one drink in the bar is 15€, twice that much for lunch looks pretty sweet.

I've read widely disparate opinions of the food at Le Ciel, but the posts are over a year old and they specifically mention dinner which is quite a bit more expensive. Anyone got any recent experience here?

I don't know about the current deal you mention, but we had lunch at Le Ciel de Paris in June 2008, and it was quite good. The food was beautifully presented, of high quality, and tasty, but not outstanding. The view is stunning. As far as places you go to more for the view than the food, this was surprisingly good. It seemed to be well managed. I think your group would enjoy it.

@enchanted, if the food is tasty, that would be good enough for these travelers who are not foodies. My son and I, who are their personal tour guides, are foodies, so upon our return, we will report on our experience for those looking at it from that perspective.

I am not familiar with the current lunch menu that you speak of, but I think your group would enjoy going there.

I have been for both lunch and for dinner.Years ago I posted that I thought it was a great place for visitors to begin their visit to Pris. The view is spectacular.

You don't go there for the food. You go there for the views!

I'm sure your group will enjoy it completely!

That is a deal, considering the elevator is €9-10.

However, make sure you will have access to the roof from the dining room! The students will love that. It's enormous and totally open.

I do think the roof is a separate fee, and not accessible to those who are dining.

OK, perhaps I need to ask more questions about this place. Is the elevator fee waived for diners? The site doesn't mention a fee for this - it says take our dedicated elevator to access the restaurant.

Or maybe is this elevator fee just to go to the roof top for a look around? Obviously, as many times as I've been to Paris, I have not been to Montparnasse Tower, so I guess I need to get all the particulars.

If you have a dining reservation, the only way to get there, is by the elevator that takes you there. No, they do not charge you a fee for taking you to the dining room for your dining reservation.

You may want to post an inquiry on the Paris forum on TripAdvisor as there are many people participating who live in Paris and may know the specifics.

With students, I would think the better bet would be to visit the observation deck (roof) and indoor observatory (two floors below - to my recollection Ciel de Paris is on the floor in between the two). There's a very nice cafe for snacks or a light meal (and a bar for the grownups).

And, there are tons of (more economical) lunch opportunities with steps of the tower, including a very nice cafeteria sort of place (with very good, inexpensive food) on the ground floor shopping level of the tower. A block or two east is a street lined with crepe stands.

I know I enjoyed walking the perimeter of the observatory and walking around the roof more than I would have enjoyed the views from a restaurant table...

Once in Paris, there are discount coupons all over for admission to the tower.
