Layover Madrid Info Help

Hi:
I have a 10 hr layover in Madrid and plan to head into the city for a quick bite and visit, but need a bit of assistance:
Some backround info:
Flying into Madrid on Iberia 6118 from Miami - arriving at 12:55pm
Departing on Iberia 3320 - Madrid to Tel Aviv - departs at 11:00pm

1. Is there somewhere in the airport that I can store my carry on for the day? I do not want to run around Madrid with a giant tote bag. Part 2 of this - is the storage area easy access for both inbound & outbound flights ( I'm assuming since both flights are Iberia, that I will be in same terminal?? )

2. Appx how long should it take for me to deplane, get through border control and taxi to city center?

3. What time should I leave the city center to get back to the airport for an 11pm departure?

4. As I'm there on a Monday, is it too ambitious to think I can actually get into the Reina ? - dying to see Guernica ( museum open 10am - 9pm )

They do have storage for luggage at the airport. More info here:

You could also take the airport bus to Atocha train station and store your bag there. From Atocha you can walk to the Reina Sofia and to many other areas of Madrid. Come back, fetch your bag and take the bus (or a taxi) back to the airport.

Not sure how long it will take you to get off the plane and out of the airport but it always seems to go pretty fast for me. 1.5 hours maybe?

I'd personally want to be back at the airport three hours before the flight leaves but maybe someone who has flown to Tel Aviv can comment.

yes, all of IBeria flights are in T4, maybe this info can help http://www.iberia.com/us/fly-with-ib...t/?language=en

I suspect you probably can get into the Reina as Mondays are slow days at museums, although probably less so in summer or holiday periods. Besides, you can buy a ticket online for only 6 euro, anyway, that's what I would do.

you could probably be in city center in about 1.5 hrs from landing. If you are going to Tel Aviv, I'd want to get to any airport 3 hrs before international flights. If it were me, I'd leave city center around 7 pm, but I'm very conservative on such issues. But you will have baggage issues to take care of also, so that should do it.

There is a left luggage office right at T4, so this should be pretty convenient for you to handle this trip into the city.

how long it take to deplane , passport etc..depends on how busy the airport is...

taxi to the center ..30 euros flat rate , about 35 -40 min...from T4
Getting into Raina may not be a problem.
Sorry, cannot help with the rest
I assume you don't wish to check in your luggage all the way.in Miami.

Danon - I will be checking luggage all the way through from Miami, however I always travel with a tote full of extra clothes, travel pillow, iPad, etc... don't want to lug it around. Prefer just to carry my purse into the city...

p.s...to maximize your time , taxi. would be more efficient.
T4 is a BIG terminal...a lot of walking to get places.

Fantastic museum, all the floor with Guernica blew my mind a couple of years ago. The 30€ flat taxi rate is a good deal, takes some 25 mins to the Atocha area where the Reina Sofía is.

You could have lunch in Belle Epoque Café del Círculo de Bellas Artes in down town Calle Alcalá, 42, some 15 mins walking from the Reina Sofía. One of the city's most emblematic cafés. Grab a window table and watch Madrid life on bustling Calle Alcalá. Three course lunch with drinks included for some 15€, or you could just have some tapas. Take the lift up to the roof top terrace (the azotea) for the most spectacular views of the city.

Or perhaps have lunch in hidden Casa Granada, on the sixth floor of an apartment building, just off Plaza Tirso de Molina, ten minutes away from Reina Sofía. Excellent terrace: http://www.tripfilms.com/Travel_Vide...ada-Video.html

And emblematic El Brillante is just on the doorstep of Reina Sofía. Fine for a quick bite and a cup or glass of something anytime: http://www.barelbrillante.es/?lang=en
