Layover in Brussels want to go to town
We have about a 5 hour layover in Brussels and were hoping to take the train into town to see something. We probably only have about 2 hours to spend in town in order to get back to the airport confortably and go through customs.
What train do we take to town and what stop do we debark? Is this realistic or should I just sit around the airport? |
Realistic and a good plan I think. The train to the city centre leaves from the Airport - step down at Gare Centrale - about 15 minutes from the Airport - Zaventem station. Walk to the Grand Place, have some lunch, and retrace your steps to the Gare. The trains leave 3 times an hour, so plan your return accordingly. You should be able to do this in two hours.

Absolutely. As usbeauty said, get of at Centrale station.
Grand Place is about 5-7 minute walk from the station. Also, within two minutes of Grand Place, on one side is Maneken Pis and the other side is Gallerie St Hubert. You have all the chocolate stores as well right beside Grand Place. In two hours you can see most of what's worth seeing. |
Ditto. Do it!
