lavender fields of provence

Hi everyone, i am hoping to see the lavender fields in provence at the end of august - considering that spring was late this year..Should i take the chance? Thanks!

I don't believe you are going to see them that late. June and July from what I've been told.

You would be seeing more sunflowers and more of the wine fields. I think they get harvested in September though. Other posters can say if I'm incorrect.

you may see what hasn't been gathered in Haute Provence. I did one year see it still blooming and some after the gatherig are burned and in the air was this fantastic fragrance of the lavender.

We've already harvested ours, dried them in the sun, and packed the blooms.

You may be lucky at high altitude, but I think you have missed it for this year.

This was an exceptionally late (and exceptionally beautiful) season. We were just up on the plateau around Sault two days ago. Took a really nice walk in the valley between Sault and Aurel and there were still a number of fantastic fields to be seen. I'd say roughly 3/4 of the harvest has taken place around there.

That being said, end of August you'll find next to nothing. Perhaps as the Cigale mentions, you might get lucky and see a few "forgotten" fields, but I wouldn't count on it.
