Lauriston Castle - outside Edinburgh

I am wondering if this castle is easy to get to from the city center? I believe it said it's only 3 miles, so there must be lots of opportunities to take a bus here?
(Is there a bus stop near the castle grounds?)?

I also think I read from a post of Shelia's that it has secret passageways. Very appealing to me. Is this castle worth visiting?

Thanks!:)

It looks as though only one bus goes there, the #24, which you can take from the center of the city. Here is a link to the bus routes in Edinburgh.

After visiting the Castle, you can walk down to Cramond where there's a pub, the Cramond Inn, and a pleasant stroll along the River Almond.

It's not really outside Edinburgh but in a rather insalubrious suburb.

The 41 bus also goes quite nearby, to Davidsons Mains.

It's not outside Edinburgh at all, and it's in a very upscale suburb.

It's quite a long walk from Davidson's Mains to Lauriston Castle.

I meant outside the city centre, I mentioned it's 3 miles away.

How long is quite a long walk?

Anyone actually been inside the castle?

sheila - you linked back to this thread. Is there another thread w/ the info?

Oops - now I see - it is the thread but has the Lauriston Castle search results.
