Laundry in St Remy and Roussillon

Where to do laundry in these towns? Suspect hotel rates will be high.

Google laverie St-Rémy de Provence and laverie Roussillon, and Pages Jaunes will come up with lists.

It won't be cheap at a laverie, either. Even a self-service one. But it'll be cheaper than at a hotel.

I thought you were only going to be in these places a few days, maybe try to plan having clothes that don't need washing so much because in small villages, you aren't going to find self-serve laundromats. Roussillon doesn't have one.

St Remy is larger, it might.

The closest town large enough to have one near Roussillon is Apt. Here is one there

I found one in St Remy

We did laundry at the laundromat Christina mentions above. It is nothing fancy but conveniently located and got the job done.

I hate to spend money unnecessarily and having a hotel do the laundry usually falls into this category.

IF I absolutely have to, I will do a bit of hand wash but of course that doesn't help it you have jeans or the like to wash.

But what I hate more is to give up precious time while on vacation only to spend time in a laundromat.

In the scope of the cost of a trip, having the convenience of hotel doing laundry isn't all that much. And if you are in these 2 towns for a short time, try planning to get your clothes cleaned before and or after.

I also do a little hand-washing in the sink most nights to *tide* me over (see what I did there?) until I can get to a laundry. I don't mind spending a few hours in a laundry. It can be refreshing to do something normal and I can read while I wait. And - oh my God - I might meet a local because locals have to do their laundry too! Except in Sicily.

LOL, Edward!

Before we got our washer and dryer, we went to the local laverie. True, we met lots of locals there, but we weren't tourists and in a hurry to go and see the sites. Besides, we could walk up the road a bit and hang around our favorite café for a bite to eat or drink between laundry cycles.

It's raining in Avignon. We have 12 days plus a day of travel for Provence so really need to do some laundry sometime. Do not travel with a lot of clothes. Can wash small stuff out at night but stuff like jeans are a problem. We are staying at the Novotel and they send out the laundry and not on Sunday or Monday. Have never met a reasonable hotel laundry price list. A few years ago I had orange juice spilled on my jacket on a flight on the way to Istanbul and my hotel charged me something like E120 to launder it. Thanks for the quick notes of advice.

>>but stuff like jeans are a problem.<<

Which is why I never take more than one pair of jeans -- hell to dry.

I usually take other slacks and skirts that can dry over night if need be.

Is there a radiator in your hotel room? That's what a lot of us use to dry our clothes. Hang the jeans on a chair or something in front of the radiator and they'll be dry by morning.

Or don't you have a heated towel rack? That works well, too.

Drying the jeans is the lesser of the evils - I find the actual washing and trying to wring out the jeans worse.

I have learned that unless I get a stain, I can wear my jeans for a long time thereby extending the time between washings.
