Laundry in London

We will be in London for 6 nights before we do another week travel in England. Are there inexpensive drop off laundries in the city we could use. I'm trying to reduce the amount of luggage for a family of four. We will be staying near the Gloucester tube station(Harrington Hall Hotel).
Thanks,

Just a thought, but the hotel might be able to tell you about nearby drop off laundries. I live in a crappy little city with plenty of wash and fold laundries, so I'm guessing you can certainly find them in London, and in that area where there are so many visitors.

We generally call such places launderettes here in the UK. If you don't want to put your clothes into the machines yourself and hang around waiting, look for a launderette that offers what's called a "service wash", where you basically pay an attendant to do it for you and come back later in the day to collect your stuff. It won't cost much, and certainly much less than the exorbitant prices charged by hotels for laundy services. Just look up launderettes on www.yell.co.uk with the postcode of your London hotel to see what's in the area.

Oh, just another small point... When you say "Gloucester" tube station, I am guessing you probably mean "Gloucester Road". It'll confuse us locals no end if you follow the trans-atlantic habit of shortening UK names and addresses like that - you might even end up being directed to a city in the west of England if you were seriously misunderstood. Other ones to watch our for are "Liverpool Street", "Leicester Square" etc etc

There's a drop-off laundry across the street from the Victoria & Albert museum and a little to the east by a block or two.
