Laundry facilities in Italy
My apologies if this is a silly question but this is our first trip to Italy and these questions keep popping in my head almost on a daily basis. My husband and I will be spending 14 days in Italy (Tome, Tuscany, Venice) and are concerned that we may end up having to do laundry at some point. I guess I'm just wondering if laundry facilities are available if your not staying in apartments.
Thanks in advance! :) |
Yes, laundromats are available.
Here's the one I went to in Venice: http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/...net-access.htm I don't have the URL for Florence, but there are laundromats there also, and in any town of reasonable size I'm sure. |
From my experience, you could find coin laundry in city centre in most city and large towns, just check with the reception of your accommadations. Last year, in a small town in Umbria, no coin laundry, but a clearner did "wash and fold" for 8 Euro per kilo.

We were in Montepulciano and there is a laundry where you could drop off in the morning and pick up in the evening -- wash/dry/fold. Should be no problem in the larger cities. ((b))

It depends what establishments you are staying in. We stayed in smaller guest house style, small hotel and I asked before I left did they have a machine we could use. Some said yes some said no. Obviously I washed where I could, but laundrets do not appear thick and fast on the ground in Italy, even in the larger cities. France is a different story, but Italy has been a problem each time we go.

We were in Italy for a month and did laundry frequently. I went to Siene when we were in San Gigmi, because there wasn't a laundry mat there. Did it in Pisa as well, still have a coin for the machine. Pack dry sheets so you do not have to buy them. Rick Steves books frequently mention locations. I also think there is a web site....seems to me it my be busy bee laundry, but I could be wrong. Any town with a university will have one close by.

Thank you so much for the website and for all the info! I will email the hotels we are staying in and ask if they have laundry service also. I find it a definite challenge not to overpack for this trip or any trip I go on! :)
