Laundry facilities

Are there laundromats in Britain and Ireland? When we were in W Europe we couldn't find any but 2 of our B&B's offered laundry services. Is that typical of the UK as well? We are not staying a long enough in one place to have a self catering accommodation.

Last summer my sister and I found one in London off Fulton Rd. We asked around and finally found it (a self serve) . (Across from the police station) They aren't as prevalent as in the US. Good Luck.

Try www.yell.com for your various locations, and search for "launderettes".

yep, you have to look for launderettes here. Not common any more but most areas have one.

just Google launderettes or laundrettes and the place you are staying

They're rare nowadays, but they exist.

You are not likely to find one if you stay in a tourist or luxury district (e.g., St James's)any more than if you were staying in Wall Street in NY, but there are plenty out in neighborhoods where people live and in most "market towns" in the counties.

Don't know whether it's still there but I remember one on Queensway, across from Whiteley's, a small mall in a former department store (top end of Queensway, opposite end from Bayswater). It billed itself as the oldest in London (machines were modern).
