Latin Quarter - rue Domat

I'm looking at an apartment in this area. Any feedback on the area, things to do, safety, etc.?

I don't know that particular street, which is very short and small, but it's just off bd St Germain to the north, off rue Dante, before rue Galande. It's a very heavily touristed area, right in the thick of that part of the Latin Qtr.

It's certainly close to things a lot of tourists want to do, and lots of crowds and cheap eateries. It might not be too bad being in that small side street, but it's not really that quiet around there no matter what -- rue Galande isn't at all, if it's like it. It's very close to a metro stop and the Seine.

It's pretty safe, most of Paris is. There are probably more pickpockets around there than in many areas because there are so many tourists.

Hi There,

I stayed in an apartment last May on this street. It's very safe street, very convenient to metro lines/transportation and a very central location.

One block in front of you is St. Germain behind you is Notre Dame.

I would stay in this area again.

We stayed on that street Dec 06-Jan 07 and it is a perfect location. The metro is literaly two minutes away; there is a super marche on the street, plus there is a pastry shop, cheese shop, liquor store and open air market just three minutes away. You can walk to many attractions, you are close to major streets, but Domat is quiet with many French families living on it. We found it to be an extremely safe area. As you can see, we enjoyed our stay.
