Latin Quarter Restaurants
 

I will be in Paris & Lyon the first week of March. I haven't been there in about 18 years so I am asking if anyone who has recently been there has any reccommendations as to restaurants in Vieux Lyon or the Latin Quartier of Paris.

By all means invest in the Cheap Eats in Paris book - it is organized by arrondisement, and is reliable. From that book, in the 6th: Chez Maitre Paul, at 12, rue Monsieur-le_Prince - telephone 01.43.54.74.59. Near Odeon Metro station, two short blocks off St. Germain. It is easier to street off by walking up Blvd. SDt. Michel. This restaurant specializes in poulet, and I had the chicken with morilles, and it was wonderful. They also serve a very nice 1998 St. Emilion. You will need to telephone for a reservation. The Cheap Eats book will give you many others within walking distance. Have a good trip. Ciao, Leone

I can "second" Cheap Eats as well as Chez Maitre Paul. I dined there Oct 2000 and it was great! I enjoyed the restaurants I picked out of this book and never had a bad meal.

We stay in the 5th because we have a great hotel there within walking distance of lots of fun restaurants. I recommend Les Bouchons et Frere Clerq or some such (sorry, I'm not near my travel books to check spelling or addresses just now) which has great food in a friendly setting and honest! wines at cost without restaurant mark up, I believe it's on Rue Colbert, at any rate right near the Hotel Colbert. Also Chez Toutonne, provencal cheeriness and good food. Atalier Maitre Albert at 1 rue Maitre Albert or so. Has gigantic fireplace and cozy interior with swings in the bar. Abelard across the street is also good and so is a little Corsican place near Chez Toutonne. Enjoy

I can also second the rec. that Julie gave about Les Bouchons des Clerq... very resonable wine list and a great cheese course too. Also Rotisserie de Beaujolais was good too...<BR>Judy :-)
