Wanted to thank you again for these tips. I just returned from Paris and thanks to this thread, I bought some Voltarene thinking it would be handy to take back with me. Well, I developed a case of "Paris foot" -- pretty bad actually. But the Votarene kept me going! It's amazing stuff.

And, the raisins from da Rosa are so delicious -- great tip.

Couple new ideas I picked up:

Jean-Paul Hevin -- my favorite chocolatier. His stuff really is heavenly. The chocolate bars travel well and are good for up to a year. (There is also a nice tea room upstairs where you can have lunch and drink his amazing hot chocolate.)

Topicrem -- a terrific moisturizing shower cream sold at pharmacies.

Email Diamant Le Secret du Blanc -- tooth whitening toothpaste that really works. Got it at Monoprix, but Amazon sells it too.

For something fun, Ets Lion (on rue des Abbesses) sells pasta shaped like the Eiffel Tower

This is a great thread! Making my list for next month.

David Lebovitz's recommendation for La Roche Posay's anthelios xl sunscreen is a good one. I've been using it forever and it has been sold OTC for many years in NY high end pharmacies like Clyde Chemists and Zitomer, both on Madison Ave. The body cream which he didn't mention can sell up to $50 here. The liquid face sunscreen that he likes is good if you don't have dry skin. They also make a cream for the face. I highly recommend it. It should be a fraction of the cost in Paris.

Since Monoprix stopped giving free plastic bags in the supermarket section, they sell incredibly sturdy shopping bags that can squeeze down to about the size of a ping pong ball when you are not using them.

I like to hit Diptyque on Blvd St Germaine to get candles in scents they don't sell outside France. They last such a long time and are never overpowering.
