Latest cost of the Swiss half fare card

All of the Half Fare card related topics in this forum seem to indicate a cost of 99chf for the card. When I try to purchase it online from http://www.sbb.ch it shows up as 150chf. Is the cost discounted to 99chf when bought in Switerland ?. Can anyone confirm the 99chf price for this month (Aug/2007). Thanks.

there are different length half-fare cards - you are sure the CHF 150 is the one-month one?

price should be the same regardless as pass can only be bought in Switzerland - lots of folks recently say it's 99 SF

Thanks for the response. The 150chf I saw at the swiss railway website was the cheapest but the duration is 1 year. I guess the 99chh/1 month is probably not sold at the web site.

Hi bboons,

Yes, the one-year card costs 150 chf (I have one now).

You can buy the one-month 99 chf card at www.swisstravelsystem.com.

Good luck!

Not sure if you've already purchased your Half Fare card but in June we were able to buy one with a coupon from the Swiss newspaper, "Blick" for 37Sfr.

Here's my post from 08/09/07

Still haven't found time to sit down and write a proper "trip report" but I did want to mention a great deal we got while in Switzerland. This may have been mentioned already on the forum but it was a wonderful find for us and I wanted to share.

It's on the 1/2 Price Card (Halbtax Abo). The "Blick" Swiss newspaper has a promotion this summer offering a 3month 1/2 Price Card (good for 1/2price travel within Switzerland) for 37Sfr. I think it's valid 'til the end of August. Inside the "Blick" daily newspaper (which can be purchased at any Kiosk)there's a coupon (I think they called it Railbon) that you clip, complete (basically name, address, etc.) and bring to the train station to redeem & purchase a 3 month promotional 1/2 Price Card. You can ask at the train station or Kiosk to be sure this promotion is still going on but it really saved us a lot of money.

Hope this helps a fellow traveller. Have a great time in Switzerland!

Thanks for the tip on the discount. I will be needing it for travel in September/October though. I'll check out the Blick paper for any current deals when I'm there.
