Late October European trek/hike location suggestions

Hi everyone,

Three of us are looking for a 5 - 7 day trip in Europe in late October (travelling from the UK). I've done a lot of reading so far, but struggling to know what's good and not so good at this time of year.

Ideally looking for a really cool trek or hike location with hostel type accommodation along the way. I guess just looking for some great scenery and landscapes and interesting routes. And if there was some opportunity for some kayaking and/or mountain biking too that would be really ace! Fitness levels are pretty good in the group, so would be willing to take on some more challenging routes if they're right for this time of year.

Budget is probably around £40 - 60 per day, but this has some flexibility.

If anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful!

Thanks, Greg

Is that budget per each, and for lodging only, or to cover everything?? If per person for everything, you could do it in Greece or Slovakia ... but not likely in France and probably not in Itly. Certainly you couldn't afford to rent kayaks or mountain bikes on that budget. You need to look at a good student barebones budget guide like LET'S GO EUROPE (pub in US) or similar in UK, they will have some adventure-destination ideas.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Sorry should have clearer with the budget. The £40-60 is spending money outside of accommodation then we'd look at cheapest accommodation available I think.

Thanks for the recommendation of the website, I'll check it out.

Did you have any specific suggested places in Greece or Slovakia or maybe Slovenia?

Thanks, Greg

That was not a website. It was a thing made out of paper, older people call it a book. It not only has photos of beautiful destinations, it tells how to get there, what to be aware of (and beware of) and how to save $$ as well.

Late October weather is unpredictable all over Europe. The Lycian Trail (Southern Turkey/Antalya airport) might be a better solution.

Thanks neckervd, the Lycian Trail looks cool. Still weighing up the options, but good food for thought!
