I think that you will need to connect in Europe. Air France, for example, has a 10:55 departure that connects onward, with 80 minutes at CDG (you don't necessarily want less for CDG), arriving Milan at 2:45 pm. BA can also connect you through London, departing JFK at 10:30 pm, but the connection is much worse.

The only nonstop leaves at 6 pm, on Continental.

Best wishes,

Rex
Check the airline websites or Expedia or Travelocity for the schedules. Continental and KLM have some joint fares on connecting flights in Amsterdam. I think the CO flight to AMS is somewhat late.

Some people like later flights to Europe because they don't have to leave work early, the hotel rooms are cleaned by late morning, and they may be less jet lag. If a flight arrives at noon in Europe, it's 6 am in New York. (compared to 9 am = 3 am in New York)

Delta has several direct flights leaving JFK between 5 and 8 PM. Do search for your dates at: http://www.delta.com/home/index.jsp
