Late arrival in Rome Hotels
My plane arrives at 11:30pm in FCO. I just noticed that many hotels state check in up to 11:00pm. Don't they have some one on duty all night long?
Any suggestions for a reasonably priced hotel with a late check in? Is there a hotel at the airport?

Some do, some don't, but if a hotel says check in only til 11PM . . . It doesn't

What is reasonable - what is your budget?
Yes, there are hotels near the airport.

Many smaller hotels do not have anyone on the desk all night and the outside doors are locked. Guests planning to stay out late can ask for keys to get in. (Same is true of many smaller hotels in Paris.)
Suggest you need a larger hotel - not one near the airport.

Pick a hotel, book it and let them know your flight arrival time. Even smaller hotels will have security guard or night reception and will accomodate a late arrival if you tell them about it. Those at the airport will be more used to late arrivals that coincide with the late flight arrivals. You need to guarantee your hotel reservation with a credit card.

Although you can't use the search feature on booking.com to search specifically for hotels with a 24-hour front desk, if you use those exact words in a Google search for Rome hotels on booking.com, you will get a lot of Google hits that will take you the booking.com website and you can read reviews of those hotels and look at price, amenities, etc.
So the search should be:
Booking.com rome 24-hour front desk
Also, if you've already spotted some hotels you think you would like to book and the only thing holding you back is that they say not check in after 11pm, then get in touch with them and ask. Sometimes they are happy to accommodate you if they know you are coming in on a scheduled flight (rather than "I'm driving down from Tuscany, and I have no idea really when I'll arrive.)
I don't know why you want to stay near the airport. There is no need to do so.

My experience is that ". Even smaller hotels will have security guard or night reception and will accomodate a late arrival if you tell them about it" is not necessarily true.
We have stayed at one small hotel in central Rome that had no one in the hotel at night. A woman from a nearby restaurant delivered breakfast.
But you need not stay at the airport. There are plenty of larger hotels with all night reception.
What is your budget?
A hotel near Termini would be a better choice than the airport, IMO.

The fact that a hotel cuts off its check-in hour doesn't automatically mean there isn't someone on duty. Some hotels simply don't want to deal with late checkins, especially as an open-door policy.
Flying in at 11.30 pm there is no advantage to either staying at the airport or staying near Termini. Very few airport hotels reliably run shuttle service that late, so you will need to get a taxi. If you go to Termini, by the time you arrive, you are unlikely to be wanting to drag your luggage around the neighborhood, even for a short distance, so you might feel much more comfortable getting a taxi. Simplest thing to do is to arrange for a car service pickup to take you to any hotel that is convenient to the rest of your stay in Rome.

I think the Fiumicino Express does not run after 11:38, so as noted above, a taxi from airport will probably be best option to get into Rome.
Are you planning on staying in Rome upon arrival, or moving on to another location?

Thank you for the helpful info. I found some big hotels that do have 24 hours. We are staying in Rome for 3 days then off to cinque terre. Any suggestions on the best way to get there? This is our first trip without a tour guide. Do we take the train to .....
Thanks
