Lastminute.com for theatre
 

Hello. I leave tomorrow for London and can purchase tickets for the Complete Works of Shakespeare for 10 GBP. Lastminute does not provide seat location nor does another site which I've posted the same question about but didn't get any replies to it (londontheatredirect.com). Has anyone been stuck with really bad seats? I don't want to waste time at the TKTS booth since I only have 3 touring days. Thanks, Susan

I can't really advise you since I haven't seen the show, but it seems there's no shortage of tickets available, ever. Here's a seating plan I found of the theater

It's a pretty traditional setup. I'd want to know where I was sitting.

While I've heard others paying 10 GBP for tickets, I noticed the price at the tkts booth is 19.75

The TKTS lines are pretty short in London. Nothing like the NY lines. The theater for that show is small. I don't think there are any really bad seats. There are some balcony seats on the sides which may not ne the greatest, but eveything else I would htink would be fine. We bought tickets on the discount line a few hrs before the show (1 person ahead of us on line). We had center orch seats about 15 rows back.

I haven't used Lastminute for the Complete Works of Shakespeare but I have used them for numerous other shows. The seats offered are usually very good and will not be any different from those offered from the TKTs booth (where you also do not get a choice of seats).

I notices on the lastminute website it say FROM 10gbp, then mentions matinees for groups of 12 or more for 10GBP (ticket value up to 34gbs, so some of the seat may be the cheaper ones). I think anything available at <= 20GBP is decent value.

MFNYC, when I go to book the show, it gives me the option for the Saturday matinee of 10GBP or 17.50GBP. I was thinking of doing the 17.50 ones because maybe they were better seats than the 10GBP..... I was just concerned we'd have an obstructed view.

The 10GBP ones may be the balcony seats way of to the side. I'd go for the 17.50 ones.

The £10 offer is for the same grade of tickets as the £17.25 ticket - both being reduced £34 tickets.

I got tickets for this play 2 weeks ago from the 1/2 price tickets booth in Leicester Square for ₤17.50 (past the Burger King) after about a 20 wait on line. My seat was in the stalls 4th from the end, and I could see the stage fine although center would have been a better view. It is a small theatre and there were no obstructions in my way. You can find a seating plan at theatremonkey.com, print it out for yourself and take it along with you and when you get to the tickets booth you can ask them before you purchase the tickets where the seats are. I saw 3 plays while I was there and had no problem getting seats the day of the performance. I think the seats in the balcony area up front probably would even give you a decent view. My personal opinion, of the 3 plays I saw, The Woman in Black, The Mousetrap and this one, I liked this one the least. While it was funny, a bit slapstick at times, I enjoyed The Mousetrap the best, but then I am a bit of a mystery buff. Excellent cast of actors, very well acted and I didn't remember whodunit so it was a nice surprise. The Woman in Black was a good thriller, not scary, but well acted also. I also saw people switch seats after the first act if the theatre wasn't crowded to another. I had to do that as a very tall gentleman was sitting in front of me in the Mousetrap and all I could see was the back of his head. I went to the ticket office and asked about changing seats and they told me that I could sit in another empty seat in the same row that was available, so it is possible to move if the theatre isn't crowded. Thanks everyone. I wanted to avoid the ticket booth because of limited time. I picked this play because we have a teenager who wanted to see something that she can't see in NYC. Susan

Just updating my experience with lastminute.com since we just returned from London. I paid 10GBP each for a ticket. We picked them up at the will call window. Our seats were in the 5th row, just off the center. I'd use them again. Susan
