Last Supper Tickets Milan
 

I've been patiently waiting for my chance to try to get Last Supper Tickets for October.

A week or so ago I saw that October tickets will go on sale on Tuesday July 7th. Now when I go online to look I can no longer find that info, but I'm still operating on the assumption that come July 7th the tickets will become available.

The Box office opens at 8:15AM. Obviously that is Italy time, not U.S. So, am I guessing right in thinking that I should set my alarm clock to be up at 2 AM EST to be able to start trying to get tickets as soon as the office opens?

Has anyone else attempted this? I've got no problem with getting up to try to get tickets, just wondering if it should work that way?

If I don't manage to book tickets myself, I am going to try for a tour. Has anyone taken a tour that includes the Last Supper lately? We only have one full day in Milan, we are staying two nights before our flight leaves, so a tour wouldn't be a bad thing to do, though we'd prefer to be on our own. We are staying in an airbnb apartment in the Brera area

I was unable to get tickets for The Last Supper, so I had to take a city tour. The tour was only half a day and it covered all the sights we wanted to see including La Scala, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, and of course, a 15 minute viewing of The Last Supper with a guide who gave excellent commentary.

We bought tickets online to the Last Supper last year. I just went online the day they announced they'd be releasing tickets and had no problem getting them.

I got up at 2 am to get our tickets for May 2015 [which would have been 8am Italy time] on the day the tickets were released.

I was amazed how many tickets were gone already which was an issue for us as we had a very short time span in Milan and one of the days was Monday when the exhibit is closed.

My experience was about the same as Scotia's (above). Took a half-day city tour with a local company booked through Viator -- excellent guide at the LS. I would guess that the the tix go quickly because the tour companies snap them up at first availability.

Like DebitNM, I tried getting Last Supper tickets for May when they were released. However, I wasn't successful, so we decided to skip it.

I was able to buy tickets on the phone by getting up in the middle of the night and calling It was actually kind of fun. Good luck!

Thank you everyone. I'm going to give it a shot and set the alarm for 1:30 AM. I need to remember to call my credit card company on Monday and tell them to expect a charge too. I forgot to do that when I was booking train tickets and my card was declined. Luckily I was able to call the cc company and get everything through ok.

For anyone interested.......the tickets for October did go on sale this morning in Italy....late last night in the US.

We logged onto the website at 2 AM EST, but the purchase site would not update to include October.

We waited almost an hour, refreshing, closing and reopening, and no luck.

So we called, which we just should have done in the first place. It was very easy, as everyone says, just wait until they tell you to press 2 for English. After being on hold for a minute or so a very pleasant woman answered and I was able to get tickets for the exact time we wanted.

We decided to book the English speaking tour for an extra 3.5 Euros apiece instead of going for the audioguide at the 3 Euros.

The total price for 2 adult tickets including the English tour was 23 Euros.

I would be persistent in checking online while you are waiting to call. Also, remember the folks in the ticket office are swamped and a "Ciao" at the beginning and end of your conversation might make a difference.

Side note - I went twice, first time was able to get tickets at the box office. Second trip had contacted a local tour guide (recommended from another travel site) who was able to walk us in with tickets on the spot.

Congratulations CindyP--Hope you enjoy it. We had the English tour as well and found it interesting.

Good for you CindyP. Glad you were able to get the tickets you wanted at a good price. What else are you planning to do in Milan?

CindyP- I just want to mention that you may want to book a second set of tickets for a start time that is 1/2 hour after your first start time.(Or 1/2 hour before.)

Here is why...

After waiting for years to get Milan into my schedule JUST to see The Last Supper, I arrived on time. But there was a large tour group going through on the same time slot as me. There are 3 doors you go through to get to the room. Once you go through those first set of doors, your time starts.

However, you all must wait in the "anteroom" for everyone to be there, before they open the doors to the actual room. I did not know this, or would have complained heartily when people there with a tour group "straggled" into the anteroom. And one took 4 or 5 minutes to finish her conversation with someone else.

All of that time was taken off my viewing time, unbeknownst to me. You get exactly 15 minutes in that room. I got about 9-1/2. You are all then required to leave the room before the next group comes in. :(

Had I known this was the case, I would have booked a second set of tickets and gone back around for a second visit. All that way for a whopping 9-1/2 minutes. Very disappointed. (Though, I was there on Holy Thursday last year, so it was very memorable, nonetheless.)

I hope if you really want to spend quality time viewing the art (it begs for more than 15 minutes, for sure), you can still book a second set of tickets for 1/2 hour later or earlier. (That is plenty of time to get back around to the front of the ticket office from where you exit the monastery (the gift shop).

Sarge, that's a very good idea. Unfortunately tickets are now sold out for the one full day we have in Milan. I'm very happy to have gotten the tickets we did get. Hopefully the guided tour will start on time. I would hope that the guide would start even if everyone isn't there, but what will be will be.

John. We have two nights in Milan, so one full day. We are flying out of Milan to the US on our third morning. We arrive in Milan on our first night by train from Rome around 3PM.

We figured the first evening we will just stroll around the neighborhood we are staying in, an airbnb apt in the Brera district. Maybe visit the Galleria. We will have a nice dinner than go back to our apartment and organize our luggage for the trip home.

For our full day, we have the 9:30 tour of the Last Supper, Yay. Then we will walk around to the major sites, the Duomo, the Castello and honestly, that's as far as I've gotten in my Milan plans for now. The biggie for us was to try to get the Last Supper tickets. If I hadn't I would have booked a half day tour, so until I knew for sure about that I didn't do much more research. Now that the tickets are secured, I will have to make some more plans, but I want to keep the day from getting too hectic, instead be able to wind down our vacation on a relaxed note.

I'm open to suggestions if you have any.
