Last night in Barcelona

We will be returning on the train from France late in the evening 22:00 and will be flying back to the states at 11AM the following morning. Any suggestiions on where we should stay on that final night? We will be exhausted as it is the end of our 3 weeks vacation.

I just had a very convenient stay in the Tryp Barcelona Aeropuerto. Good rates (100 euro), extremely quiet rooms, modern business decor. It's a Sol Melia hotel. The hotel has an excellent free shuttle to the terminals.

Since you are arriving so late, I suggest you take a taxi from the train station to the Tryp. It will cost about 25 Euros. Don't let the cabbie charge you the airport charge. The Tryp is actually outside the airport, even thought it's only about a minute outside the airport.

If the Tryp Barcelona is anything like it's Sister Hotel Tryp Apollo I would highly recommend it. The Tryp in the City was Fantastic. Clean Room and the Breakfast was one of the Best I've had in Europe. Have a Wonderful trip and Please give Us the details when You get Home...

Our last night in Barcelona will be September 27. We will be staying in hostels, predominately and probably will want to be on a tighter budget. Any thoughts on hostels that might be just a few minutes from the airport? We found Lisbon's airport quite congested. Is Barcelona's air port congested? Our flight leaves at 10:30AM.
Thanks, BS

Since you are arriving so late, I would stay at Barcelo Sants hotel which is a multi-story hotel on top of the train station. We paid 70E for a double room last May. The beds were a little hard, but the rooms/baths were nice and had AC. You take an elevator in the train station up to the hotel. The floor we were on had an ice machine which is unusual for Europe.

There are several places in the train station to get breakfast if you don't want to pay the hotel prices.

Barcelona's airport is congested and somewhat chaotic, especially on weekends. The fact that you will be traveling a bit later than the summer high season might cut you a bit of a break.

I don't know what hostels cost, but I booked my room at the Tryp Aeropuerto through an online service called "Bookings.es" and got a rate for a superior double of 98 euros in May.

Thanks Theresa 10. It looks like a fair deal and very convenient to the airport.
